![]() This also means we won't allow you to share your link on the sub either sorry. Reddit is not intended to be used as a marketplace and it's not something we can safely monitor so we ask that you use the proper websites around the internets. Creating multiple posts relating to the same topic from the same user is frowned upon and will also be removed - keep a topic hot and at the top by promoting conversation and engaging with other users. Blatant spamming or links to referral pages where a user could gain will be removed. Our aim is to keep things tidy, a useful resource for others and utilise the flair system. Direct links to other carrier's advertisements or press releases will likely be removed. Non-Ring posts are allowed if the goal is a discussion about Ring. To use the duress code, follow these steps: Keypad: Enter the duress code and hit the Disarm button. Try and focus on Ring when you make your post. Is Ring equipped with a duress code When Ring Alarm is in any mode, you may use the duress code to seek assistance (Armed Home, Armed Away, and Disarmed). The purpose of this subreddit is to discuss all things Ring. Constructive criticism about Ring is perfectly acceptable, but hate, memes, and pure bashing is not. Posts that are purely negative and/or do not promote further conversation will be removed. This makes the alarm 100 useless in a home invasion or any type of duress situation. Posts that are made to bash Ring or a product will be removed. I’ve just learned that not only does the alram not support duress codes, but it does not even initiate a call if the alarm is triggered but deactivated within 30 seconds. If you need help, please ask! If you're going to complain, make it a constructive complaint. Rule #3 Negative or Does Not Promote Conversation Please take extra care in ensuring you keep your own information safe too. If you recognise the neighbourhood that's posted in a Ring Clip do not reveal this in the comments. Please don't reveal any information that can be used to track someone down in real life. Not only is this against the rules here, it's frowned upon reddit-wide. We're all trying to help to the best of our abilities. And if someone is legitimately trying to help you but you're not getting the answer you want, please don't lash out at people, including the Ring rep. Focus on the subject, not the person making the point. Don't get too heated, don't start tossing ad hominem attacks at people. Also I’m based in Ireland - just in case we have different features/different app to U.S.Simple. So my question is, did anyone else experience this problem? And did you find a solution?Īnd could it be because I haven’t paid yet (I’m still on the 30 day free trial of Ring Protect), could that be the issue, do you think?ĮDIT: I’m using Android (in case that has any relevance). I know that the duress code feature is only available to peole who have subscribed to Ring Protect (monitored plan). ![]() (Plus even if the app was the problem, when I login to my Ring account online, it should still show the duress code option there but it doesn’t, so I dont think it’s the app causing the problem). I’ve contacted Ring support & have been back and forth with them a few times, but they haven’t figured out any solution yet - they keep asking me to update the app, but I’m already using the latest version. >But when I get to that point, I dont see any option to set a duress code? ![]() I really want to enable this on my system. I actually think this is an excellent feature and very clever. It acts like a silent siren, so to speak. So for example, if an intruder was in your house holding you at knifepoint forcing you to de-activate the alarm, this code silently sends a distress signal for them to send the police immediately. I’ve read about the Duress Code feature (where you can select a ‘fake code’ whereby if you enter this code on the keypad followed by the de-activate button, you will appear to have ‘turned off’ your alarm, but in reality, it will have triggered an SOS to the Ring monitoring team). I’ve just installed my ring alarm system yesterday. ![]()
