Almost all the nutrients from the rice are removed. Personally, I’m still not thrilled about the sugar content of GoMacro bars. On the GoMacro website, they have a page explaining why they consider brown rice syrup a “ better sweetener.” They point out that it’s macrobiotic, organic, and free of heavy metals. GoMacro bars have less sugar than Clif Bars but more sugar than Kind Bars. Most of that is added sugar in the form of brown rice syrup. GoMacro Bars have between 10 and 15 grams of total sugar per bar. That said, the sweeteners and high-glycemic ingredients still make me a little wary… So let’s cover sugar next. They are also free of the worst processed oils and sugars. They are organic, and there are no artificial sweeteners or colors. Overall, GoMacro ingredients are clearly made to appeal to the conscious consumer. (Plus, it’s not even clear if organic food is better for the environment.) That said, in reality, organic food isn’t much healthier than conventional. Most conscious consumers would celebrate this. GoMacro bars don’t have artificial ingredients like Red 40 or sucralose. Free of artificial sweeteners and colors.These include walnuts, peanuts, almond butter, and sunflower butter. Most flavors of GoMacro bars have nuts, seeds, and their butters. And I saw another flavor has dates, which are one of the highest-sugar fruits. They also have puffed brown rice, which is high glycemic. In addition to the brown rice syrup, both of these bars have coconut sugar.
